Working on Inside Out was one of the highlights of my career. I worked on the show as a story artist for almost three years. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect story to pour myself into and bring authentic experience to the table! I was so excited to join the team. It felt like this was the one I’d been waiting for! Initially as the only woman on the story team, I dove into my own ‘long term memory’, drawing and sharing my experiences of as girl growing up. I reread my middle school journals, watched old home videos and used my personal experience to help the team develop the story of Riley’s life and inner workings. Joy’s character, who, being pretty energetic and optimistic myself (sometimes to a fault), was a character I could definitely relate to. There was a magic combination of talented folks on this one, and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.
